Posted By lenguaventura on Jan 14, 2020 in Activities at countryside |

The girls and boys who stay with us at our kitesurfing and windsurfing summer camps like to stay fit and healthy all year round. But during the winter months sports can be a challenge. When the weather is bleak and the temperature is sometimes too cold to enter the sea, kitesurfing and windsurfing can be out of the question. Which is why snowkiting is the best winter sport for kitesurfers and windsurfers. Discover our list of the best places to go snowkiting below.

Norway

Norway is one of our best places to practise this sport. The air is clear, the landscape is beautiful and there’s almost a guarantee of snow during the winter months, making Norway a pretty reliable destination for all snowkiters.

Switzerland

Switzerland has some great destinations such as Valais, Lake Silvaplana, Simplon Pass, Grimsel Pass to name a few. You can discover destinations within hours of major cities too!

Finland

Lathi is one of the best places in Finland. It’s also one of the most famous destinations, alongside Lapland. There’s lots of open landscape perfect for snowkiting and during the winter months as Finland’s lakes and rivers are frozen-over and covered with snow. You might even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Santa Claus while you’re there!

Canada

Famous for its skiing destinations, Canada is also one of the best places to go snowkiting in the world. The sub-zero temperatures throughout the winter months mean snow is certain with some awesome scenery to match. While you’re there check out Pemberton Icecap, Whistler Green Lake, Canmore, Banff and Spray Lakes which offer some of the best snowkiting destinations.

Iceland

Iceland is one of our favourite holiday destinations here at Lenguaventura due to its out-of-this-world landscapes. Any excuse to go is great, so we love that Iceland is one of the best places for this sport. Test your skills at The Langjökull Glacier which is one of the world’s most famous snowkiting destinations. Plus the beautiful glaciers and the Northern Lights will make it an experience to remember.

Sweden

Sweden’s frozen lakes, reliable snow and high winds means its one of the best places to go snowkiting. Check out Storulvån, Storlien or Skäckerfjällen which will guarantee amazing adventures which are off the beaten track. There are also possibilities to snowkite near Stockholm too!
