We’re krazy for #Kite4Gold! Kitesurf talent programme for female kiters

We’re always happy to hear about kitesurfing here at Lenguaventura and we keep our ears close to the ground for the latest and greatest news! So when we discovered the fantastic new kitesurfing talent programme for female, British kitesurfers we couldn’t contain our excitement and are happy to share with our readers.

#Kite4Gold is a new programme that will train female kitesurfers aged 15-28 years in order to prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympics! Until now, kitesurfing has not been included within the lineup of selected Olympic sports but it seems that’s all about to change. Formula Kite debuted at the Sailing World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark in August of this year and now there’s no stopping it!

The search has not been limited to those who can already kitesurf. It was open to anyone who is a proficient racer in windsurfing, dinghy or multihull classes, as well as experienced riders from other board sports such as surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding and wakeboarding.

The successful women will be trained by the British Sailing Team and British Kite Sports Association’s expert instructors and coaches, and supported through the transition to becoming a full-time athlete. There will also be the opportunity for one woman to compete alongside one male rider for gold at Paris 2024.

We’ve taught some amazingly talented young ladies at our summer camps before and hope to hear that some of them have applied for this amazing opportunity. We’re strong supporters of women within watersports and are positive that with hard work, determination and a dose of stamina the chosen women will make waves within kitesurfing.

Unfortunately, applications for #Kite4Gold have recently closed on 17th September but you can find out more about it here:

Plus, don’t forget to follow the #Kite4Gold hashtag to stay in the know. We know we are going to!
